Ruth Rockholt

Ruth Rockholt, 95, of Apison, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014. A lifelong resident of Apison, she was of the Baptist faith and was the daughter of the late Pete and Nancy Quinn. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, C.L. Bates and Jess Rockholt; children, Doris Bates and Calvin Bates; grandson, Eugene Hicks; and a great-grandson, Cody Wilkenson; four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include seven children, Jessie Hicks, Patricia McGhee, Vesta (Phil) Waters, Kathleen (Tony) Sims, Lyda Johnson, Jack (Carol) Bates and William (Fay) Rockholt; a special daughter, Jean Williams; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard McKeehan and the Rev. Marvin Quinn officiating. Interment will be in Plowman Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service on Tuesday from noon-2 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
