Vernon Lewis

Vernon Ball Lewis, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. She was born in 1922 on Feb. 22, in Soddy-Daisy. Spent most of her adult life in Memphis, Tenn. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar L. Lewis. Also preceded in death by siblings, Clyde, Mildred, Charlotte and Carl. Survived by siblings, Paul Ball and Ray Ball. Survived by her only child, Edgar L. Lewis Jr., who was the light of her life. Also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews, Cherry Rankin, John Hargis and Eugene Ball. Also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Hitt and Jamie Sudbury; and two great-grandchildren, Jagger and Beckett Sudbury. Worked for 25 years for the International Harvester Memphis Plant and bowled for the Plant bowling league. She always worked to keep a beautiful garden, but more than anything she loved attending the Moose Lodge dances and her trips to the casinos. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1-2 p.m. with services beginning at 2 p.m. today, June 11, 2014, all at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue.
