Roy Willhoit Sr.

Roy A. Willhoit Sr., 87, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born April 7, 1927 to the late Aner and Ruby Willhoit. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde L. Willhoit and Rhoten Willhoit. He loved his family and friends very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Willhoit was a manager for Bell South in the Cable Splicing Department for over 35 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was trained as a paratrooper in Fort Benning, Ga. and he served in Okinawa. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Louise Willhoit; son, Roy A. (Janis) Willhoit Jr.; grandson, Roy Daniel Willhoit; great-grandchildren, Hannah Bailey Willhoit and Raegan Danielle Willhoit; nieces and nephews, Ruby Roettger, Mary Alice Neal, C. L. Willhoit, Clarence Willhoit, Bill Willhoit, Lynn Wood, Debbie McGill, Eddie Phillips and families. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 13, in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Steve Harbison, Chris Harbison, C.L. Willhoit, Clarence Willhoit, Bill Willhoit and Gary Bradford serving as pallbearers.
