Mattie Chandler

Mattie Johnston Chandler, 93, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Elbert and Claudia Johnston. She was a member of AARP, RSVP, YMCA, AOA, Ester Sunday School Class and member of Rising Fawn Baptist Church. She volunteered at Dade Health and Rehab for 23 years, she retired after working approximately 21 years for the state of Georgia, serving eight years with the Dade County School System and 13 years with Dade County Family and Children Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Chandler; her father and mother; her two brothers Elbert Johnston Jr. and James Grant Johnston. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Crane; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 18, in the chapel with the Rev. Tommy Crider officiating.
