C.J. Rogers Jr.

Rogers Jr., 87, of Hixson, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Erlanger Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1927 in Jasper, Tenn., to Christian Joseph Rogers and Mary Riddle Rogers. C.J. was a U.S. Army Veteran, and was retired from DuPont. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest pleasures were spending time on the lake and enjoying winters in Florida with his family, especially the grandchildren. C.J. was an active member and deacon of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Roberta C. Rogers; an infant daughter; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Dannie Chapman Rogers, of Hixson, C.J.s children include Sue (Bill) Garry, of Signal Mountain, Randall (Anne) Rogers, of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Renee (John) MacCoon, of Signal Mountain; grandchildren, Caitlin Garry, Evan Garry, Landon (Brittany) Garry, Maggie (Wendell) Wright, Patrick MacCoon, Madison MacCoon, Erin Rogers, and Merrilee Rogers; sisters, Dorothy, Zelma and Mary Lou; brothers, William and Charles. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today, June 21, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
