Archie Kennebrew

Archie Lee Kennebrew, 79, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was born July 15, 1934, in Wheeling, W.Va., to William Elbert Kennebrew Sr. and Maggie Moore Kennebrew. He attended Howard High School, graduating in the class of 1959 after having served four years in the United States Air Force. Archie was employed by the United States Postal Service from which he retired after several years of service. Preceding Archie in death were his wife, Rosa Kennebrew; father, William Kennebrew Sr.; mother, Maggie K. McCray; stepfather, Fred McCray Sr.; brother, William Kennebrew Jr.; sisters, Elma K. Jackson and Johnnie K. Taylor. Archie is survived by one brother, Fred (Cheryl) McCray; seven sons, Quinton Kennebrew, Jeffery (Sophie) Robinson, Van Barrett, Alfred, Alfonso, Reginald and Robert Peck; daughter, Ramona LaGail Kennebrew; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, June 23, 2014, in the chapel with Pastor Lurone Jennings Sr. officiating. Interment in National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
