Leonard Dodson

Austin "Leonard" Dodson, 81, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a minister for 50 years, a selfless servant to the Lord and his family. He never knew a stranger and loved to tell jokes and make people smile. He never gave in to bad feelings, and when asked was always "doing GREAT". He was a tireless worker, and always saw the good in people. His motto was he would rather "wear out" than "rust out." Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Ruby Dodson, who describes their marriage as "wonderful"; son, David Dodson (Nancy); son Darryl Dodson (Beth); grandchildren, Courtney Dodson, and Garrett Dodson. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Fred Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today, June 23, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, green plants or donations in Leonards name to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 would be preferred.
