Earlita Richardson

Gertrude Earlita Richardson, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, of pancreatic cancer. Earlita was born on Nov. 14, 1935, to Earl and Gertie Sanders in Wayne County, Ill. She graduated from Wayne City Community High School in 1953 and Southern Illinois University in June 1957 with a bachelor of science in education. On June 9, 1957, she married David Richardson in Wayne City, Ill. She taught second grade at Boynton Elementary School for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. David Richardson. Earlita is survived by her four children, Beth (John) Roueche, Terri (Brian) Hendon, Timothy (Kristy) Richardson and Melodie (Jason) Jones; eight grandchildren, Kim, Jennifer, Melissa, Brittany, Haley, Whitney, Danielle and David; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Allie, Bella and Ava. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Bill Owens officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association at 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
