Ernest Teague

Ernest Luther Teague, 83, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and attended South Rossville Baptist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he had raced at Clevelands Boyd Speedway in the early 50s. He was a member of Teamsters Local #515 since 1958 where he served as Secretary, Treasurer and Job Steward for many years and was also employed with American Freight as a Truck Driver since 1958. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Franklin and Willie Mae Teague; Charlie Jackson and Martha Hicks Teague who raised him; two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 66 years, Grace Catlett Teague; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie (Michael) Flippo and Sharon (James) Gray, all of Rossville; sisters, Juanita Swafford, of Athens, Tenn., and Mary Teague, of Rossville; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Earlene) Teague, of Flintstone, Ga.; four grandchildren, Christopher Flippo, Alyssa Flippo, Sara Gray and Sean Gray; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today and prior to leaving for the service on Wednesday.
