Luretha Elder

Luretha Inez Finney Elder, 92, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was born in Rhea County and had lived in Red Bank for the past 60 years. She was a housewife and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and taking care of the family. She was a member of Alpine Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jacob Kenzie "Jake" Elder; parents, George David and Mary Ellen Finney; brothers, John Edward "Ed" Finney, Charles "Chuck" Finney and Hubert Randolph Finney; sisters, Ethel Rosalee Priest, Dixie Irene McMillon Perkins, and Hattie Kate Finney; and her granddaughter, Jennifer (Jenny) Elder. She is survived by one son, Steven M. (Susan) Elder of Monroe N.C.; granddaughters, Susan Victoria "Vickie" Elder of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Stephanie Diane (Thomas J.) Daley, of Chapin, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Mikaela Louise and Annika Grace Meeker, and Daniel Jacob and Elizabeth Charlize Daley; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 28, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tenn. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation today from 9 .m. until time of service at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.
