Johnie Overturf

Johnie Wayne Overturf, 58, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. He had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a carpenter for most of his life and loved being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping or riding four wheelers, he lived life to the fullest. He was a loving and devoted, son, brother, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Overturf. Survivors include his mother, Mary Madglene Overturf, of Rossville; son, Wayne Humphries, of New Orleans; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and (Mary) Overturf, of Rossville, Don and (Teresa) Overturf and Henry Carl and (Cindy) Overturf, all of Ringgold, Ga.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie (David) Couch, of East Ridge, Evelyn (Eddie) Sullivan of Rossville, and Debbie (Jim) Scarborough, of East Ridge; one grandchild and several nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. EST in Fall Creek Cemetery in Palmer, Tenn.
