Rev. Dr. Larry Amos

The Rev. Dr. J. Larry Amos, 76, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2013. The Rev. Dr. Amos was born on Feb. 3, 1938 in Spartanburg, S.C. to Cedric DeFoix Amos Sr. and Canzada Jane (Sadie Coggins) Amos. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Annette Amos; sons, Carl (Celeste) Scott Amos, Warren (Donna) Douglas Amos, Dennis Gene Amos; daughter, Laura (Scott) Lynn Flegal; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. He served the United Methodist Church North Georgia Conference for 41 years. His last appointment was Clarkston UMC. He received his Masters of Divinity at Emory University and his doctorate of ministry at McCormick Theological. As a member of Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years, The Civitan and Lions Clubs, he will be missed by many. Visitation will be today, March 8 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home, Tucker, Ga. with a service to honor his life at 3 p.m. The Rev. Dalton T. Rushing will be presiding.
