Bobby Smolik

Bobby Smolik, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born in Falling Water, Tenn., to the late James Franklin Smolik and Irene Gipson Newsome, and was a member of South Chattanooga Church of God. Bobby worked as a heavy equipment operator for Marsh Homes before his retirement. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Holloway; son, Robert Smolik; five brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Ruth Smolik; children, Ed (Deb) Harris, all of Rossville, Sissie (Rex) Simpson, of Soddy-Daisy, Sherry (Jimmy) Thomas, of Rossville, Rayburn Smolik, of Chickamauga; siblings, Ricky Smolik, of Rock Spring, Karla Morrison, of Soddy-Daisy; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, in the chapel with the Rev. Edward Varner officiating. Interment will follow in Levi Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
