Geneva Cooper

Mrs. Geneva Cooper went home to be with God and walk the streets of gold with the promise of eternal life on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was of the Baptist faith. She was at home surrounded by all of her loving children, Vickie(Rick)Hatfield, Mike Cooper, Myra Langford, Darlene(Doug) Pasley; grandchildren, Justin Smith, Conner Langford;great-granddaughter, Ansley Smith. She was a stay at home mom with her children until they were adults. Later she was employed by Hutcheson Medical Center in the Childrens Learning Center and retired after 28 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her golden girl friends, her sister, Jinny and her niece, Belinda and her two best friends in the whole world, Linda Davis and Wilma Bankston. These golden girls spent a lot of time, drinking coffee, sharing secrets and laughing till they hurt. Geneva enjoyed bird watching and she knew them all by name. She loved working outside in her yard and flowers. Reading was her only quite hobby and she has read over seven thousand books. She was born in Centre, Ala. on August 16, 1939, to the proud parents of Fannie and John Mathis. She was preceded in death by Paul Cooper the father of her children; brothers, Claude, Miles, J.E and Johnny Mathis; living sisters, include Jinny Clark and Jean Kirk, several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by her loving children with services provided at Advantage Funeral Home on McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga Tenn. Brothers Shawn Meade, Brad Harris, Chaplain Jim from Hamilton Hospice, Hamilton Medical Center will be officiating. Visitation will be at Advantage Funeral Home Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 12-8 p.m., Sunday 2-8 p.m. Services on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial to follow at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park. The family extends special thanks to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia. Hamilton Hospice, Hamilton Home Health Care. Special thanks to include Dr. Rick Fromm, Dr. Steve Paynter, Dr. Eric Manahan, Dr. Sam Naguib, Dr. Bill McKay, Dr. Humayun, Dr. Narenda Patel, North Georgia Radiology Group, Dr. Kathy Knight, Dr. Jorge Oliver. To each and every staff member at Hamilton Medical Center for the excellent care and kindness provided to Mom and our family. We could not have made this journey without your prayers, your love and support each step of the way many days and nights and then even as we made our final trip with Mom to her home for good. The cancer care, the love and guidance that we received from Hamilton Regional Cancer Institute was first class.
