Milton Harris

Milton "Mickey" Harris, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born in Ashland City, Tenn., but had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He had served during W.W. II as a Sgt. with the Army/Air Corp, where he was an engineer on the B-24s. He enjoyed fishing, sharing stories, telling jokes and spending time with family and friends. He was a true Entrepreneur and was always striving to do his best at anything he put his mind to. His first job was with Kays Kastle Ice Cream at the age of 17 and within 13 months was promoted to the Supervisors position. This job started his drive and began his career in the Dairy Industry for more than 25 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by two sons, Stan Harris and Peter Harris. Survivors include his children, Leigh Harris, of Sarasota, Fla., Geoff (Shirley) Lewis, of Cerro Gordo, N.C.; Barbara Harris Funaiole, of Dayton, Tenn., Melanie Harris (Tim) Gangaware, of Knoxville, Hillary Harris Sampley, of Chattanooga; daughters-in-law, Sue Maddox Harris, of Bordentown, N.J., and Ann Walters Harris, of Dayton, Tenn.; sister, Lucille Harris Bracey, of Nashville; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah Rose, LErin, Lauren, Amy, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Lauren and Erin; five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and numerous extended family. Memorial services will be held in October before the 78th Harris Family Reunion in Ashland City, Tenn. There will be no services or visitation at the funeral home.
