Cora Childress

Cora Jean Lumley Childress, 87, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, March 15, 2014. She was born to the late Henry and Margaret Milling Lumley in Gadsden, Ala. "Mama Jean" moved to the Flintstone area in 1940 and was a member of Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church. She was a loving Christian woman, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil Lumley, Robert Lumley and Ralph Lumley. "Mama Jean" is survived by her children, Edna Gass, of Rossville, Don (Jonelle) Childress of Dallas, Texas, Paul Childress, of Flintstone, Tommy (Chris) Childress, of Carnesville, Ga. and Marilyn Childress, of Flintstone; grandchildren, Trisha (Gary) Baker, of Flintstone, Selena (Craig) Autry, of Chattanooga, Terrell Childress, of Carnesville, and Tonya (Tracy) Yearwood, of Carnesville; great-grandchildren, Hope, Katelyn, Chayce, Dylan, Josiah, Aiden, Toben, and Bruxyn; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens-South. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m . on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Ft. Oglethorpe
