Beatrice Franklin

Beatrice Blanche Gaines Franklin was born December 1, 1917 in South Pittsburg, TN and began her new life on February 11, 2014 after a long illness. She was the third child of Allen Washington Gaines and Laura Lovie Johnson Gaines. She died at the young age of 96 in Bronx, NY, after having an active and full life as a seamstress and New Yorker. Her loving sisters, Ruby Gaines Searcie, Millie Gaines Williams, Willard Gaines Maxwell, Josephine Gaines McCrorey and Beaulah Gaines Edwards preceded Beatrice in death. Brothers, R.Z. and Randolph Gaines preceded "Bea" as well. She has two surviving brothers, Robert Laster, of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Carl Gaines, minister emeritus of Lake Charles, LA; Bea's best friend and lover of her life, Willie Childs departed the loving care of friends and neighbors in 1998. Now they can be reunited in their new life. Memorial Service will be held March 29, 12 p.m. at 2nd Missionary Baptist Church on 3rd Street, Chattanooga, TN.
