Elroy Hawthorne

Elroy Guest Hawthorne, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born in Alabama but had lived most of his life in the North Georgia area and was a member of New Haven Fellowship Church in Rossville. He was previously employed with Pro-Tire as a Fabricator for more than 10 years and loved going to church, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his loving wife, of more than 62 years, Lorene Hawthorne of Rossville; two daughters, Deloris Newman, of Flintstone, Ga. and Patricia Barberee, of Rossville; sister, Mabel Stephens, of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Pam Smith, Lee Johnson, Ann Yearout, Jeremy Newman and Rebeccah Newman; six great-grandchildren, Gregory Smith, Cody Smith, Parker Johnson, Jasmin Johnson, Julia Yearout and Nicholas Yearout; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in the New Haven Fellowship Church in Rossville with the Bro. Jack Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
