William McKinley Chauncey, 97, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away at his home early Sunday morning, March 23, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Lettie Jane Chauncey. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jordan Schwenk; his siblings, Arnold, Mabel, Violet, Bernice, Effie and Bernard. He was the son of the late Allie (Yother) Chauncey and Charlie Chauncey. He is survived by five children, Patricia (Rex) Smith, Dorothy (Donald) Gardier, Sandra C. Berthold, Charles Robert Chauncey (Sherry May), and Pamela F. Chauncey; five grandchildren, Darlene (Eddie) Case, Lisa (Michael) Virusso, Regina (Brian) Schwenk, Charles Chauncey Jr. (Jeri), and Jason Chauncey; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Case, Alexander and Emily Rose and two very special family friends, Barbara McEliece and Ashley Stewart. He was a 65 year member of Local 43, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, and a lifelong member of the Soddy Church of God. He was known throughout the Soddy-Daisy Community as a helper with whatever need he could fulfill, always willing to lend a hand with his skills, food and spiritual needs. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Doctor Edward Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Varner Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers he requested memorial donations in his Wife's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Chattanooga, 7621 Hamilton Park Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
