Ruth Layne

Ruth Elizabeth Hardy Layne, age 95, of Powell's Crossroads, passed away Sunday March 23, 2014 in a local hospital surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Mosley Hardy. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion C. Layne and son Robert Layne. She is survived by son Larry S (Norma) Layne, Ringgold, GA and daughter-in-law Marty Layne, Powell's Crossroads and by four grandchildren, Leslie Layne (David) Morton, Darrell Layne (Richard), Phillip Layne, Kitty Layne (Barry) Griffith, four great-grandchildren Sean and Brynn Morton and Tyler and Taylor Smith. She had been a cook at Crossroads Elementary School for thirteen years until her retirement. She was a long time member of Looney's Creek United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be Thursday March 27 at 2 p.m. CDT at Looney's Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Woods, Rev. Cecil Baxter and Rev. Phillip Layne officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning an hour before the service. Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank all of Miss Ruth's caregivers.
