Wilber Rock

Wilber T. Rock departed this life Sunday, March 23, 2014, at a health care facility. Mr. Rock was the son of Rev. W.P. Rock and Evelyn Goldwire Rock. Wilber was a native of Newman, Ga. Wilber was also a member of Thompkin Chapel AME. Wilber served his country by serving in the United States Army Air Corps where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant during World War II. Mr. Rock attended Tuskegee University where he received a two year associate degree in plumbing. Then he worked at DuPont for 30 years where he retired. Wilber was a member of the American Legend and he played in their band, he was also a member of the Masons. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing: his devoted wife, Eva B. Rock; his sons, Wilber (Patricia) Rock, and Robert (Young) Rock; grandchildren, Justin (JuNichia) Rock, Evalyn Rock, Darin Rock, Aaron Rock and Khea Logan; his great-grandchildren, JuDai Rock, Justis Rock, and Morgan Sanders; daughter, Samevelyn Morgan Rock; friends, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Smith, and Mr. Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Trammell Chapel 913 M.L. King Blvd. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church E 8th St. Burial to follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
