Elsie Durrah

Elsie P. Durrah, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at her residence. She retired from Alton Park Health Center. She was a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and served with the Women of Excellence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Durrah Sr.; parents, Rogers and Eddie Mae Cooper; grandparents, James and Effie Cooper, Willie S. and Elsie Strong; brother, James R. Cooper Sr. Survivors include sons, Joseph (Satari) Durrah Jr., of Chattanooga and Reginald Dixon, of Atlanta; stepdaughter, Shirley Bennett, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Marvin (Alicia), Anthony (Bahja), Martez and Aubrey; three great-grandchildren; brother, Johnnie B. (Sarah) Cooper, of San Jose, Calif.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 8-9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service is at noon Saturday in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan Sr. as the eulogist. Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
