Patricia Chambliss

Patricia A. Jones Chambliss, 71, departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2014, to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on June 29, 1942 in Chattanooga, to the late Edward and Gussie Mae Jones. Pat was a devoted woman of God and was a faithful member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including Nurses Guild and the choir. She was a member of the Howard High Class of 1960. She rendered care and selfless-service to hospital patients for over 20 years and retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2005 from Memorial Hospital. She was also previously employed by Erlanger Medical Center. Preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Chambliss Jr., brothers, Edward Jr., Roland, Jesse, Anthony, and Mack Jones; sisters, Melain Jones and Betty Knight; mother-in-law, Love Chambliss. Survivors: devoted children, Olain L. Jones and Vanessa M. Spann, of Chattanooga, Gussie D. Spann Jarrett, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Vincent E. Spann of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Rosemary McClure, Jennifer Jones and Mattie (James) Walker; brothers, Harold Jones and Wesley Shelby; aunts, Winifred (Eugene) Dozier and Ruby Calhoun, all of Chattanooga, and Emma (Thomas) Clark, of Newark, Calif.; grandsons, Ralph Jarrett Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio, Tracy Daniels and Olain Jones Jr., of Chattanooga and her right hand man, Vincent L. Hale, of Carbondale, Ill.; granddaughters, Sakenya and Jennifer Jarrett, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tiara and Ashley Jones, of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Union Grove M.B. Church, 4100 Highland Avenue with Pastor Glen P. Taylor officiating. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. John P. Franklin Funeral, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
