Jethro Hammond Jr.

Jethro Hammond Jr. was born Nov. 20, 1954 in Chattanooga, to the late Jethro Sr. and Margaret Cain Hammond and departed this life on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Jethro was educated in the Chattanooga public school system where he was a 1973 graduate of Chattanooga City High School. He served five years in the United States Navy. He was employed by Beuhler Brothers Food Market, Combustion and Picadilly Cafeteria in Northgate where he worked for 29 years until it closed. Those left to cherish his memories include three brothers, William (Barbara) Hammond, Thomas (Beverly) Hammond, of Chattanooga and Michael Hammond, of Johnson City, Tenn.; two nephews, William Jr. and Kendal Hammond, Chattanooga; two uncles, Eugene (Sylvia) Hammond, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Carlisle (Mary) Hammond, Huntsville, Ala.; a very devoted aunt, Ruth Brown, Chattanooga; other aunts, Rosa Mae Cain, Huntsville, Naomi Hammond, Mount Clemens, Mich., and Geneva Hammond, Huntsville; special cousins, Marcus Brown, Carolyn Dandy and Rosemary Heard, Chattanooga; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Carlisle Hammonds officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on April 3, 2014. The family will recieve frinds on Monday from 11 a.m. until funeral time.
