Aileen Hope

Aileen Myatt Hope, 91, of Chattanooga passed away early Wednesday morning April 30, 2014 in the care of Hospice of Chattanooga. Born in Nashville, she lived most of her life in Chattanooga. She graduated from Chattanooga High School class of 1940. In her younger years she worked for Bell South Telephone Co. She retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1985, where she worked in the childrens department at the downtown store. She was a lifelong member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church where she was active in the Friendship Sunday School Class, as well as many group events up until her later years. One of six brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Julius E. Hope; brother, Harbert "Hobby" Myatt Jr.; sisters, Mildred Mink and Anna Thomas. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Rev. Randy Martin; son David Hope; sister, Marie Beck; brother, Jim Myatt; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. today, May 2, 2014 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Mark Dowell and Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 a.m. today.
