Joretha Smith

Joretha A. Smith, 74, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in Chattanooga. She graduated from Howard High School and attended Chattanooga State Community College. She was formerly employed at Alton Park Health Center and retired from Erlanger Hospital. She was of Baptist faith. She was very devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Yolanda Gale Robinson, Cynthia Smith; mother, Lucille Puryear; sisters, Catherine Wallace and Martha Dickerson; and brother, Anthony Anderson. Survivors include her daughter, Angela Smith; sons, Frederick, Michael and Gary Smith; grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Bradley, Raven, Morgan, Megan, Gabrielle and Gary Smith; great-grandchildren, Ava, Madison, Jaden and Angelina Smith; sisters, Annette Goodman and Cynthia Ellis; daughters-in-law, Marva and Cindee Smith; several nieces, nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
