Stanley Thurman

Spring City Stanley S. Thurman, 46, died Saturday May 3, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Stanley was a lifelong resident of Spring City. He had been employed by United Parcel Service for the last 26 years. Stanley also worked at his family's business part time; T & M Lawnmower. He was a graduate of Rhea County High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Spring City. Stanley loved to fish, garden and collect menus. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Torbett Thurman, of Spring City; parents, Robert and Lilah Thomas Thurman, of Spring City; children, Cole (Sarah) Thurman, of Dayton, Kenzie Thurman, of Chattanooga, Kelsie Howell and Kaitlyn Thurman, both of Spring City; grandchildren Camryn Reed, of Spring City, Andie and Tenley Thurman both, of Dayton, aunt and uncle Betty Jo and "Chick" Purser, of Spring City, father and mother-in-law Jim and Faye Torbett, of Madisonville and sister-in-law, Stacey (Tony) Breeden, of Englewood. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Pendergrass officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.
