Gladys Marler

Gladys Ruth Bell Marler, 97, of Chattanooga, and Glendora, Calif., died Thursday, May 1, 2014. She began her career as a seamstress at Picketts in downtown Chattanooga and became a successful dressmaker. She was the owner of Gladys Marler Alterations in Los Angeles, Calif. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph S. Marler; parents, Ed and Lillie Mae Bell; and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children, Norman (Jo) Blanks, of Chattanooga, Larry (Brenda) Marler, of Chattanooga, Vivian (John) Love, of Garden Grove, Calif., and Ron (Debbie) Marler, of Glendora, Calif.; grandchildren, Tommy Blanks and Tamara Blanks, of Chattanooga, Ben (Beth) Marler, of Chapel Hill, Tenn., Evonne (Andy) Kendle, of Chattanooga, Kelly Love, of Orange County, Calif., and Matt (Aimee) Marler, of St. Louis, Mo.; with several great-grandchildren. Dale Kendle will conduct the graveside service at 1 p.m. today, May 8, in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
