Dewey Sheppard

Dewey Sheppard, 87, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman, Tenn. A longtime resident of Spring City, Dewey was the son of the late James and Carrie Carter Sheppard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a self-employed farmer. Dewey was a member of the Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F&AM and the Teamsters Union. He was of the Baptist faith. Dewey was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Ella Tipton Sheppard; and his four sisters. Survivors include his sons, Larry (Dianne) Sheppard, of Buford, Ga., Jimmy Sheppard, of Merritt Island, Fla., and Kent (Gail) Sheppard, of Spring City; daughter, Pat (Bill) Kilpatric, of Gainesville, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A Masonic graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Spring City Cemetery.
