Robert Swiger

Robert "Bob" Roy Swiger, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in a local healthcare facility. He was a member of Cleveland Christian Church where he was an elder. He was retired from U.S. Forestry Service after 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving overseas in the Philippines and China. Mr. Swiger was the son of the late Roy Houston Swiger and Maude Roop Swiger. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jane Nipper Swiger, of Cleveland; two children, Richard D. Swiger and wife, Vickie L. Swiger, of Cleveland and Janet A. Smith and husband, Rick Smith, of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Chad Swiger, of Cleveland, Hilary Smith and Melanie Smith, both of Chattanooga; two great-grandchildren, Lauryn Swiger and Cali Swiger, both of Cleveland; two brothers, Lloyd Swiger, of Graham, Texas and Bill Swiger and wife, Pat Swiger, of Omaha, Neb.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Minister Reggie Bryant officiating. The service will conclude with navy military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 9, 2014, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
