Lizzie Sanderfur

Lizzie Ann Sanderfur, 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at a local hospital. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. on September 18, 1931 in the Turkey Foot Community. She attended the Chattanooga Public Schools. Later on in life she received her GED certificate. She was self-employed as a Tennessee Top Ten Beautician and owner of Babs Shop for Beauty. She was a lifelong member of Joseph Chapel AME Church. She served as past President of the East Tennessee Conference Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by parents John and Hattie Chandler; four sisters; seven brothers and daughter/twin, Bettye Sanderfur Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories her sister, Grace Payeton; brother, Daniel Chandler; children, Rev. Barbara Sanderfur, Rev. Ben (Vernell) Sanderfur, Minister Willena Ellis, Pastor Donald (Mary) Sanderfur, Ronald Sanderfur; 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and very special friends. Services will be held on Monday, Mary 12, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. A. J. Holman Sr., officiating. Interment Highland Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state after 12 p.m. today and the family will receive friends from 57 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995
