Shirley Faye Allen, 71, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to sing along with the Gaither family and many others. She was born May 17, 1942, in Fort Payne, Ala. She was a graduate of Rossville High School where she was in the Drill Squad and played volleyball. She enjoyed her time spent at Alexian PACE playing Bingo and passing out the prizes. She always had a smile for everyone, regardless of her pain. Rarely did anyone know how ill she was. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Ralph Allen; parents; and her brother, James F. Martin whom she loved deeply. She is survived by her daughters, Vivian Cobb (Charlie), Tonya Mitchell; grandson, Brandon Cobb; and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Eli and Nora; brother, Earl Wilson. The family wishes to thank Alexian PACE and specifically Dr Ann Reybolt for the care and attention given to our Mother over the past nine years. She was a giving person, even in death she thought of others. She donated her mortal remains to the Genesis Program in Memphis, Tenn., dedicated to medical research. She always said that if it helped one person it was worth it. Thank you Mother for your selfless acts of love and care you gave us all our lives. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, May 17, at 12-2 p.m. at 4218 Belvoir Drive, East Ridge. For inquiries or directions call 423-619-4158.
