Harold Edward Waters, 82, of Hixson passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Mr. Waters was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and was a Shriner, serving as a bus driver for the Shrine Childrens Hospital. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #159, Sam P. McConnell Chapter. He was preceded in death by parents, James Raydus Waters and Theta Winnigham Waters. Survivors include his wife, Betty McGowan Waters; sons, Kenneth Waters and Dennis (Gena) Waters; daughter, Teresa (John) Adcox; three grandchildren, Shannon (Brad) Carroll, April Mulzet and Thomas Waters; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Waters and Harland (Joan) Waters; sisters, Gina Waters, Bonnie (Stanley) White, Patricia (David) Woodburn and Joyce (Johnny) Bridges. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Clif Roth officiating. A Masonic service and military honors will be held. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today, May 15, 2014, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alhambra Shrine Bus Transportation Unit, 100 Alhambra Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
