Jesse Hines

Jesse Cramuel Hines, 95, slept away to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born June 16, 1918 to the late Boomer and Lizzie Hines in Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his parents: wife, Margaret J. Hines; daughter, Jessica Vaughn; two grandchildren; one sister and four brothers. He loved the Lord and serving others. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was baptized and ordained by the Rev. G.W. Bonds. He served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, member of the Senior Choir, chairman of the Deacon Board and finance committee. Jesse was educated in the Chattanooga public schools and was a retiree of Mueller Co. and St. Andrews UMC. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the U. S. Army Air Corp. He was a past Mason, Mt. Moriah #14. He is survived by his loving daughters, Gloria Dunn, Baytown, Texas and Emma (devoted son-in-law, Gregory) Magruder, Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; sisters, Lenora Brown and Hattie Bryant, Chattanooga; other family and friends. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. - Is. 40:31. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Advantage Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ingram officiating and Rev. Paul A. McDaniel presiding. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state from noon until 7 p.m. today, May 15, 2014, in the chapel.
