Robert B. McCorkle, 79, of Hixson, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, surrounded by his family. Mr. McCorkle had lived in the Chattanooga area most of his life and was a member of Sherman Hill Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 95. He was retired from Combustion Engineering after more than 30 years; He was an avid reader; and enjoyed bowling, golf and Leatherwork and was a small aircraft pilot for Ace Norris. He was a loving kind man and father. Robert was born to the late Robert and Emma McCorkle and was preceded in death by brother, Edwin McCorkle; and one sister, Sue Thomas. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Norma McCorkle; one daughter, Robin (Tim) McPherson, both of Hixson; two brothers, W.L. (Ann) McCorkle, of Harrrison, David (Nancy) McCorkle, of Roswell Ga.; one sister, Patricia McCorkle, of Harrrison; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve) Wolfe and Timothy (Ami) McPherson; great-grandson, Aiden; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday April 19, in the Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ricky Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military honors. The Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Turner Funeral Home Chapel.
