Sue C. Howard, 74, passed away Monday evening, May 19, 2014, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. A native of Athens and longtime resident of Decatur, she was a daughter of the late Hessie and Ruth Womac Carter and was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Renae Howard; two brothers, Cliff and Bobby Carter. She retired from Volunteer Electric after 40 years of service and was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Dean Howard, of Decatur; three daughters and sons, Carol Howard Erwin and her husband, Erec, of Athens, Lynn Howard Mashburn and her husband, Carl, of Athens, Charlene Howard Miller and her husband, Pat, of Decatur. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Short Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis and the Rev. Paul Isom officiating. Burial will follow in Short Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Ziegler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Sue C. Howard.
