Jenny Salladay

Jenny B. Salladay, 67, of Chatttanooga died Monday, May 19, 2014. Born in Decatur, Ill., and reared in Guthrie, Ky.,, Jenny had lived in Chattanooga since 1994. She was a lifelong lover of books and libraries, beginning her career as the Head of the Children's Department for the Wheeler Basin Regional Library in Decatur, Ala. Locally; she worked as a reference Librarian at Chattanooga State Technical Community College before becoming the Middle School Librarian at the new McCallie Middle School in 1999. Building the Lebovitz Resource Center collection was one of the great joys of her life. Jenny valued education, and she loved storytelling, sharing good books with others, and encouraging the middle school boys to hone their research skills. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Jenny is survived by her husband, David; her son, Gray; her daughter-in-law, Megan and her sister, Kathleen. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 23, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to McCallie School, the Norris Scholarship Fund at Murray State University or The Memorial Health Care System Foundation.
