Kenneth Bowman

Kenneth R. Bowman, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a retired police officer with the city of Chattanooga and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was the son of the late Charles and Clara Patterson Bowman and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Millard and Joyce Jernigan. Survivors include three sons, Rodney Bowman, Chattanooga, Charlie (Marilyn) Bowman, Petersburg, TN and Tim Bowman, Chattanooga; his friend and companion, Helen Shepherd, Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kristi and Tammy; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Ron Peterson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 4601 North Terrace Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37411.
