E. W. Layne

Layne, 82, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at his home with his family close by his side. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, cattle farmer and road construction Foreman in South America. He served on the board of Grundy County Farm Bureau and the Soil Conservation Board. He was born in Palmer, Tenn., on Dec. 17, 1931 to Robert Dewitt Layne and Esper Woodlee Layne who preceded him in death along with his brother, Joe. P. Layne; sister, Lola Carrick. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucretia "Sissy" Cannon Layne; three sons, Russell, Lloyd (Candida) and Lowell, all of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sisters, Ruth Curtis and Ruby McRae, Tracy City; sister-in-law, Wyllene Layne, of Coalmont; grandsons, Preston and Connor Layne.
