Norma Friar

Mildred Norma Friar, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Norma worked at American Lava and then later retired from Dixie Yarns after 18 years of service. She loved to bowl and play bingo and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Her parents, Norman and Mildred Nichols; brother, John Nichols and cousin, Alice Mincey preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, James Friar (Ethel), Ken Friar (Donna), Bill Friar (Tami) and Del Friar; brothers, Tommy Nichols (Carolyn) and James Nichols (Sue); sisters, Mary Shaw (Robert) and Edna Veal (Randy); six grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
