ROSSVILLEJames P. "Blondie" Alford Jr., 84, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at a local hospital. He was retired from Combustion Engineering with 38 years of service. He was on the board of directors of the ComTrust Federal Credit Union and was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Alford Sr.; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Alford; three loving daughters, Nancy (L.D.) Long, Brenda (Joe) Sowinski and Deborah (David) Forshee; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A special thank you to all his friends and caregivers. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Chattanooga National Cemetery where Military Honors will be observed. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today and from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
