John Wesley "J.W." Williams, Sr., 76, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in a local hospital. He was a 1959 graduate of Howard High School. He was a faithful member of the Shepherd Church of Christ. "J.W." retired from TVA and later was employed by Kandy Kastle and 21st Century Day Care as a bus driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Inez Williams; brother, Norman Williams; son-in-law, Eric Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Cylethia Williams. Survivors include his devoted wife, Faye Jones Williams; children, Donna C. Williams, of Chattanooga, Dr. Veronica Williams (Dr. Clinton) Beverly, of Lynchburg, Va.; John Williams, Jr., Lisa Williams Johnson, Ashley D. Williams, and Jade A. Williams; stepson, Kenneth Worthy; stepdaughters, Pam (Chris) Alderson and Alesia (James) Ellington, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Michael Williams, Courtney Cook, John 'Trey' Williams, III, Stephen Cook, Jr., Chase Johnson, Bailee Beverly, Sydney Beverly, Jayveun Williams, Nicholas Beverly, and Troi Moore; great-grandchild, Braylen Cook; brothers, Cecil (Mamie) Williams, of Chattanooga and Alton Williams, of LaGrange, Ga.; aunts, Idell (Elder) Burrow of Atlanta, Ga. and Gladys Williams of Detroit, Mich.; mother-in-law, Louise K. Jones; sisters-in-law, Barbara Williams, Evelyn Shropshire, and Anne (James) McGhee all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 6-7 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Michael Ludy as the eulogist. Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
