Daisy Gaunt

Daisy Mae Gaunt departed this life after 94 years on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Health Center at Standifer Place. Daisy Gaunt was born on June 30, 1920 in Warrington, Ga. She was employed by Erlanger Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Charlie and Leslie Jones; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include her brother and sister, Foster Jones and Christine Jones; sons, Eugene (Myrtle) Curry and Leroy (Barbara) Gaunt, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Vicky Curry, of Cleveland, Ohio, Toni Gillespie (Eddie), Marcilla Gant-Scott; great-grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Branden Gillespie; great-great-grandchild, AnDraya Gillespie along with other family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Center at Standifer Place for their care, especially the staff of South Wing as well as the many family and friends who have touched us with their caring hearts through phone calls, cards and prayers. Funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Chapel with the Rev. James Penny officiating. Rev. Fred Harris will deliver the Eulogy. Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive visitors from 6to 7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
