Rosa Howard

Rosa Lee Howard, 83, passed away at her residence Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Howard was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Later in life she moved her membership to Community Missionary Baptist Church. Presently she was a member of Mount Ollie Primitive Baptist Church. Under the leadership of her son-in-law, Elder Owen L. Smith Sr. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Mrs. Rosa Mae Petty; and her husband, Mr. Willie Howard. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted daughter, Mary Jo (Owen) Smith; stepdaughter, Shirley Stevenphson; nine grandchildren, including loving and devoted granddaughter, TaMica, Willie, and TeRance Dillard, Asha House, Joyel (Carnell) Starling, Joseph Powell, Jesse, Shirley Reynolds and David Nicholson; eight great-grandchildren, Anothy Edwards Jr., Timothy Burrage, Jr., Ashawn Johnson, Dynasty Lovelady, Deanna Ware Dillard, Ivory Green Dillard, JaCori and Javon Starling; six sisters, Ernestine McDonald, Geraldine (Clifford) Taylor, Shirley Smith Carpenter (Tony), Betty Massengill, Annie Ruth Armour, Mary Evelyn Lewis; one brother, Charles (Mattie) McKenzie; a host of nieces and nephews; one devoted godson, Raymond Thompson; and a loving and devoted in-law, Mrs. Barbara Studyvent, all of Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Mount Ollie Primitive Baptist Church. Interment in Highland Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
