Lewis Layne WHITWELL Leslie Lewis Layne, 88, left this life Monday, March 30, 2015. He was retired from Signal Mountain Cement Plant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Knox Layne; parents, John and Virgie Layne. Mr. Layne was a member of Palmer Church of God and a United States Army Veteran. Those left to cherish his memories are several nieces and nephews, Debbie (Ron) Daniel, Gloria (Danny) Atterton, Shirley (Joe) Massengale, Carolyn Mosley, Becky (Tom) Blair, Vickie Barrett, Sharon Lane, Nancy (Randall) Caldwell, Eddie (Carol Thomas, Billy Barrett, Richie Lane. Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. today, April 1, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Smith and Rev. Donald Ross officiating. Interment at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.
