Edna Lehman

Edna Anna Scharlemann Lehman, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away July 30, 2015, at her home. Born on April 28, 1924, in Friedheim, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ernst Scharlemann and the late Johanna Meta Harre Scharlemann. Edna was a devout Christian and a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Chattanooga. She was a wonderful, dedicated teacher at Lutheran School in Chattanooga for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edwin Marion Lehman Sr.; son of the late Albert Martin Lehman and the late Flora (Williams), both of Chattanooga. Edna is survived by two children, Paulette Tindell and her husband, Charles Edward Tindell Jr., of Chattanooga, and Edwin M. Lehman Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Louisville, Tenn.; one brother, Floyd Scharlemann and his wife Phyllis of Broomfield, Colo.; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Lehman Wilkes of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Trey Tindell of Chattanooga, Chris Lehman and his wife Laura of Knoxville, Tenn., Brandon Tindell and his wife Rachael of Birmingham, Ala., Amy Lehman of Atlanta, Ga., Katie Lehman of Louisville, Tenn., and Kelly Lehman of Louisville, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Jackson Lehman, of Knoxville; and one great-granddaughter, Margaret Louise Tindell of Birmingham, Ala. Edna was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Rev. Martin Scharlemann of St. Louis, Mo., Esther Scharlemann Hamann of Gresham, Ore., Alfred "Mook" Scharlemann of Hennepin Co., Minn., Ferdinand Scharlemann of Wabasha, Minn., Ralph Scharlemann of Hahlen, Ill., Edith Scharlemann Billig of Giddings, Texas, Erna Scharlemann Turek of Friedheim, Mo., Rev. Herbert Scharlemann of Lake City, Minn., Robert Scharlemann of Charlottesville, Va., Evy Scharlemann Meyer of Chattanooga, and Winnie Scharlemann Bentz of Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. at the church before the service. A private burial service will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
