Mary Jean Miller

Ind. Mary Jean Miller, 93, mother of local Signal Mountain resident Mary Jo Levy, went home to her Lord on Aug. 24, 2015. During the years as a Monticello resident, she was involved in many community and church activities. She served as president of Chapter Gamma Eta, Tri Kappa, PTA president, president of Presbyterian Women and director of the Junior Choir at First Presbyterian Church where she became a member in 1939. She was an active member of the White County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the Monticello Public Library. While raising four children, she was the office manager of her husbands company, Miller Plumbing and Heating (later Miller Mechanical). After her husband passed away, she wintered in Winter Haven, Fla., for many years where she was active in the Hope Presbyterian Church choir, the public library and the hospital auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Miller, of Monticello; daughters, Mary Jo Levy, of Signal Mountain, Linda Bridges (Dick), of Rock Hill, S.C., and Joyce Miller of Carson City, Nev.; grandchildren, Brett Levy (Pam), Andrea Levy Holmes (Shaun), Rick Bridges (Rebecca) and Jennifer Meyer; stepgrandchildren, Trisha Bridges Zemke, Allison Bridges Williamson and Caitlyn Holmes; great-grandchildren, Chase Levy, Gavin Holmes, Raines Bridges, Calista Bejare and Chaz Cormier; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five great-great-stepgrandchildren; brothers, Robert Crouse and Floyd Crouse; sisters, Catherine Smith and Martha Alspaugh Legler; much-loved nieces and nephews and their families and several cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph Alexander Miller; her parents, Floyd K. and Iva (Yundt) Crouse; brother, James Crouse; and son-in-law, Wayne Levy. Visitation with the family will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 29, at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, 6368 US-24, Monticello, Ind. At 2 p.m. on Aug. 30, a service for family members will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Following this service, a celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 104 North Illinois Street, Monticello, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
