Thomas Rainey Sr.

Thomas Jackson Rainey Sr. 91, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2015. Thomas was born in Chattanooga in 1923, moved to North Georgia in 1927 and has lived here ever since. He was a 1941 graduate of Rossville High School and 1944 graduate of North Carolina State College. Thomas is a U.S. Army veteran serving in the European theater during WWII and the Reserve Corp. He was a member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist where he was an active Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and enjoyed serving Jesus Christ. Thomas was also an active Gideon. He retired from Electric Power Board with 34 years of service. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Martinl parents Mack E. Rainey and Carrie C. Rainey; and sister, Hilda Rainey. Survivors are son, Thomas (Kathy) Rainey Jr., Rossville; daughter, Carol "Jeannie" Jean Moore, Rossville, grandsons, Pat (Sherrye) Moore, Chris (Jenny) Moore, Garrett Rainey and Jacob Rainey; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. B. Dan Scott and Rev. Al Davis officiating. Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church and the Fishermans Sunday School Class.
