Philip Martin

Philip Roy Martin, 54, of Ooltewah, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, peacefully at home. He was born in Harrisburg, Pa., and grew up in Shermansdale, Pa. He has lived in the Ooltewah area for the last 30 years. He was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Education included Blue Mountain Academy, Pa.; Pacific Union College, Calif.; Wiemar College, Calif.; and Southern Adventist University where he received his B.S. in Nursing. He worked for the Pennsyvania Department of Forestry, Perry County EMS, Hamilton County EMS, Hamilton County 911 Center, Hamilton Co. Volunteer Fire Department, several local area hospitals, and travel nursing. He worked with Air Tek fixed-wing and Air Evac rotary-wing air medical ambulances, which was his greatest joy. His hobbies included fly fishing, travel, Ham radio, and hiking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Roy Martin. Survivors include wife, Theresa Ellis Miller-Martin; stepson, 2nd Lieutenant, Matthew C. Miller, USMC of Quantico, Va.; grandson Blake Miller, Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Rebecca Miller, Ooltewah; brothers, Arthur (Glenda) Martin, Paul (Janice) Martin; aunt, Gloria (Dave) Trostle; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his "work family" in the medical community and his puppy loves, Zoey and Kassia, and the cats. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Juanfer Monsalve officiating.
