Dr. Alan Jacobson

Dr. Alan I. Jacobson, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. Dr. Jacobson has been the laboratory director (pathologist) at Starr Regional Medical Center for over 22 years. He was born in Norfolk, Va. He graduated from Old Dominion University and the University of Virginia Medical School. He did his internship at Henry Grady Hospital in Atlanta, and his residency at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va. He was at both Cobb General Hospital and Smyrna Hospital for about 16 years in Atlanta. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Werbin Jacobson; a daughter, Marla Terri Jacobson; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laurey and Stuart Borowsky; niece and nephew, Jennifer Jacobson Dubin and Glenn Dubin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Samuel N. and Renee Werbin; nephew, Stuart Werbin; niece and nephew, Dr. Jeffrey and Robyn Klugman; nephew and niece, Ian and Sarah Werbin; seven great nieces and nephews, wonderful family, and great-friends. Alan was predeceased by a brother, Barry Lee Jacobson. The family wishes to thank everyone for their caring, love, and support; special thanks to Starr Regional Medical Center and Life Care Center, Athens, Tenn. A graveside service is planned for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Ga. Local memorial arrangements will be announced.
